What I want to do after graduation

Short-Term Goals

A year from now, following my graduation, I envision myself working part-time as a graphic designer, with the ultimate aspiration of securing a permanent position either within the company I’ll be interning at or exploring other job opportunities in my field. My intent is to remain rooted in the vibrant city of Montreal, where I’ll be pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Communications studies, most likely at Concordia University.

I would like to move into the city to be closer to school and also meet new people in my work field but also other creatives. I would like to find new passions, be in the middle of all of the art in my city, and find inspiration as well as independence from being in a new environment. I believe that a change in environment is very important for a creative to stay inspired.

I hope to expose myself to more art and get out there immersing myself in diverse creative projects and events that showcase the talents of many artists. My ultimate objective is to involve myself in an environment that fosters inspiration and innovation

Collaborating with different creatives is also an objective for me. The wisdom and knowledge gained through such partnerships can also be useful in my career, not only in terms of career opportunities but also in the cultivation of enduring friendships. These connections have the potential to unlock doors to exciting job opportunities and enrich my life on both personal and professional fronts. The creative journey is a realm of endless possibilities, and within a year, so many exciting possibilities can emerge. The future is an open canvas, and I can’t wait to see the surprises and adventures that lie ahead on this creative path.

About my Career Plan

Long-Term Goals

In the next 5 to 10 years, I envision myself thriving in a dynamic creative agency or production company, engaging in both local and potentially international projects. My passion for diversity in creative goals is what initially drew me to graphic design—the capacity to harness various art forms to accomplish unique projects. I aspire to actively contribute to creative directions and specialize in graphic design for businesses, with a focus on visual aesthetics, illustrations, and involvement in branding, packaging, and web design.

Photography is another profound interest of mine, and I envision taking up freelance photography from time to time, particularly for creating visuals in advertisements and promotional campaigns for companies. Currently, I am diligently working on multiple projects that align with these roles. For instance, I have designed advertisements, websites, and stationery sets for my personal brand, “Tranquil,” as well as created packaging for “Psycho Punk,” among other projects. Concurrently, I am gaining valuable experience by working at a photo studio, building my photography skills for various events and occasions.

Ultimately, my dream is to travel to different cities worldwide, immersing myself in diverse cultures and art styles. Along this career journey, I aspire to collaborate with fellow creatives in the different countries I explore. Furthermore, I aim to establish a platform in Montreal that highlights and supports talented individuals in the creative realm. This space would serve as an opportunity for emerging artists, be it in art, music, fashion design, or whatever it may be, to network, socialize, and gain recognition. Educating our youth on the numerous career paths available within the arts is important, many of us have this misconceptipn that you can’t make a living in the arts. Breaking those generational doubts by inspiring and encouraging the next generation, we can provide them with the tools/spaces to learn, share, and continually discover the profound beauty of art, perpetuating a cycle of inspiration and fascination.
